Watermelon Day at State Farmers Market

Summer is here. Let’s take a slice! To celebrate this time of year, the State Farmers Market will host an event day inspired to welcome everyone to enjoy the warm sunshine and watermelon samples. The event is Thursday, July 27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. We invite you to bring your children, students and everyone else to this free event. There will be free samples, recipes, “Meet the Farmers,” scavenger hunts, giveaways and much more!
Warmer weather suggests outdoor activities and cutting open one of North Carolinas fresh watermelons. N.C. watermelon growers are harvesting in full swing from early March through early August. NC watermelon farmers harvest 9,000 acres of farmland.,
