Batik Bags with Emily Howard at Artspace

Learn about the art and craft of batik. Create a unique design painting with hot wax, then adding various colored dyes for a finished tote bag that will be one of a kind.

Emily Howard, an artist and arts educator, lives in Raleigh with her two sons and husband. She is Assistant Professor of Art at Meredith College where she teaches fibers/textiles, weaving, 2-D design, 3-D design and art methods courses. Howard enjoys working with preservice art teachers as the program coordinator for the art education program at Meredith. She has also been a teaching artist at Artspace for over 15 years. Howard is a mixed-media fiber artist and shows her work regionally and nationally.
