Piedmont Wildlife Center offers School Holiday Camps, Track Out Camps (tracks 1-4), Overnight Camps in addition to Summer Camps (from beginning of June through mid August).
Join us in the forest as we practice naturalist and survival skills, explore the park, meet local wildlife, and play some of our favorite woodland games! Typical camp activities include creek exploration, whittling, fire building, shelter building, and plenty of games!
Get ready for creek crawling, forest building, wildlife science, and more outdoor fun. Camp at Piedmont Wildlife Center is a magical time filled with the opportunity for outdoor exploration and nature connection. With all our programs taking place outdoors, we invite campers to connect with the earth and with each other as we fill the days with forest games, creek crawling, and animal encounters.
Teen Camps and Adventures:
Our Teen Camps and Adventures are designed for teens who want more than a typical camp experience. Participants spend their days immersed in Piedmont Wildlife Center’s forests and fields, building real outdoor skills, exploring wildlife science, and learning what it means to be a thoughtful steward of the natural world. Teens hike further, ask bigger questions, and take on hands-on challenges like tracking animals, practicing field research techniques, honing survival and navigation skills, and collaborating with peers in meaningful ways.
These programs encourage independence, leadership, and confidence while fostering a strong sense of community. Guided by experienced counselors, teens are invited to step outside their comfort zones, develop practical skills, and form lasting connections with each other and with the natural world.
Counselor in Training
Piedmont Wildlife Center’s Teen Outdoor Leadership Training program offers teens the opportunity to develop leadership skills and grow as mentors. Teens involved in this program can become CITs, assisting in the leadership of our camp community under the guidance of our camp counselors and coordinators. As a CIT, your role is to support the counselors, bring energy and excitement to the day, and keep an eye out for the needs of the campers. All teens must complete our Outdoor Leadership Training prior to being a CIT.
Overnight Adventures (for 14yrs+) are also offered through Piedmont Wildlife Center. Some locations include the Appalachian Trail /Wilson Creek Trail, Grayson Highlands, Wilson Creek in Virginia. Miles hiked can vary from 4miles to 19 miles for the entire trip.
