New year, new hike!
Join us for our annual First Day Hike at Eno River State Park. This beloved tradition was started in 1971 to bring friends, families, and neighbors together to welcome the year on the trail.
We’ll meet at the usual spot—the Cox Mountain Trailhead & Picnic Area—and head out on updated routes this year due to trail closures. After a welcome message, hikers can choose between two guided options: a short, casual hike (about 1.2 miles) or a longer loop (about 3.6 miles). Either choice will take you on a journey through the park’s beautiful winter landscape.
After your hike, stick around to warm up with hot cocoa and conversation back at the trailhead. Plan to arrive early, as parking fills quickly. Gather your friends and family and start 2026 on the right foot at the Eno!
NO registration required! A recent article mentioned the need to register for the hike, however there is no registration. This event is open to the public and all are welcome. See you there!
