United Strings of Color presents Black Storytelling at Cary Arts Center

  • When: Saturday, February 10, 2024,  6:30 pm -  7:30 pm

  • Cost: $5 adults. PreK-12 Free.

The young musicians of the United Strings of Color Intermediate Group will perform "Ijapa and Mr. Igbin", a charming Yoruba Folktale expressed in narration and art, with original music by local composer Elmer H. Gibson. The main character, a tortoise, discovers the truth about wisdom. They will also present "Sing A Song, How Lift Every Voice and Sing Inspired Generations" by local author Kelly Starling Lyons. The program will open with another work by the African American composer, Undine Smith Moore.
