Butterflies of Prairie Ridge

  • When: Wednesday, August 24, 2022, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
  • Location: 1671 Gold Star Dr, Raleigh, NC 27607
  • Cost: $3 museum members. $5 non-members

Want to know more about butterflies? Teens and adults are invited to participate in a butterfly workshop! We’ll talk about common butterflies we see here at Prairie Ridge, host plants for the caterpillars, and how to attract butterflies to your yard. Then we’ll look in the native gardens the prairie to see how many butterflies and caterpillars we can find. Once we identify the species, we’ll show you how to report data so it can be used for citizen science projects. You will take home a laminated butterfly identification guide along with seeds and/or pollinator plants for your own yard.

This program is limited to 12 people and is for ages 13 and up. Please dress for the weather, and wear closed-toed shoes; sunscreen and hat are recommended. No prior knowledge needed, just come willing to learn. We will meet inside the Outdoor Classroom, located down the gravel path from the entrance

This program requires preregistration.
