Join us for "Plants with a Past" – a special tour that focuses on the land, crops, and garden areas of Oak View. Learn about how these outdoor spaces were designed, created, and maintained through history, with a special emphasis on how enslaved labor and then sharecroppers and tenant farmers shaped the landscape in the 19th and 20th centuries.
This free tour is open to all ages, but is best suited for upper elementary to adults. Registration is required for all participants and walk-up registration is available. The tour will include walking outside through the park grounds, so please dress appropriately for the weather.
The program will begin in the Farm History Center (our visitors center building). Please check in with park staff upon your arrival. We will run the program rain or shine, so please come prepared with weather appropriate clothing. In order for us to prepare for the program, if you find you are unable to attend the program, please let us know as soon as possible.
