The CFF Challengers is a Pop Warner flag football and cheer program for youth with special needs ages 5 to 18. We serve the greater Triangle area, including Wake, Durham, Orange and Johnston counties.
The CFF Challengers provides a fun, safe and structured environment for young athletes with special abilities to be on a team and enjoy the great sports of flag football and cheer.
We have a very diverse program of youth with special needs. Our participants have a wide range of intellectual and/or physical disabilities, including autism, Down Syndrome, cerebral palsy, seizure disorder, and more. Some use mobility aids, such as wheelchairs and walkers. Their support needs vary -- from minimal guidance to one-on-one assistance from a buddy. Our goal is to ensure that each athlete is successful -- whatever that may mean to them.
Our season is in the fall and usually lasts eight weeks. We meet each Saturday, usually from the first Saturday after Labor Day through October (and sometimes into November) for about an hour and a half for a combined practice and an intramural game. Our game locations and times change each week as different associations within the Consolidated Football Federation host the Challenger Division. Based in Raleigh, North Carolina, the CFF Challengers serve the broader Triangle area, including -- but not limited to -- Wake, Johnston, Durham and Orange counties.
