Mordecai Historic Park

The Mordecai House is the oldest house in Raleigh in its original location. Once the largest plantation in Wake County, it was home to the Lane and Mordecai families and enslaved and freed African Americans from 1785 to the 1960s.

Mordecai Historic Park offers one-hour guided tours of the park’s historic buildings and grounds. Tickets for tours may be purchased at the Visitor Center.

Self-guided tours of the building exteriors and park grounds are available when the park is open. Stop by the Visitor Center to pick up a self-guided map to begin your tour. Please note that visitors may only enter park buildings on a guided tour.

Tours leave the Visitor Center at the top of the hour, beginning at 10 a.m., and the last tour leaves at 3 p.m. Each tour is approximately 60 minutes long. See ticket pricing on the website.
