Andrew Johnson was born on December 29, 1808 in Raleigh, North Carolina in the kitchen of an inn where his parents worked. This structure was removed from the original site and is now located in a park elsewhere in Raleigh. It is open to the public to visit. The original birthplace location is marked with a sign by the North Carolina Office of Archives and History.
