This informative and entertaining spring walking tour is perfect for the entire family! And it's a great thing to do with Mom on or around Mother's Day weekend!

The historic Oakwood neighborhood is the oldest neighborhood in Raleigh at least partially outside of the downtown. On this tour, you will learn how much of the Oakwood neighborhood was almost destroyed in the 1970s.

We will also discuss the main architectural styles in Oakwood and the stories of the people who built these gorgeous historic homes. In addition, you will see Oakwood's "modern house," which created such a stir in the neighborhood in 2013-14 that the story was reported nationwide.

Other interesting stops include Pullentown, a tiny sub-neighborhood within Oakwood, and a home where a made-for-TV movie was filmed that starred a very famous classic actor and actress.

This tour is pay-what-you-want ! If you enjoy the tour, please compensate your guide appropriately! CASH ONLY please! Usually, the guide receives $15 to $20 per adult, but you are free to give more or less than that, depending on how you feel about your tour. As you can imagine, the tour guide has to work hard to earn your appreciation!
