Join us at the Gigi's Playhouse Raleigh location to connect. We'll be making "Leprechaun traps" and discussing how we cultivate luck in our own lives.
For All Ages.
Siblings of children with special needs have special needs themselves. Often, the special siblings will get a bigger share of attention as he/she requires more focus. This alone can create negative feelings toward the special needs sibling - feelings such as jealousy, anger, and resentment. While having a special needs siblings can present challenges, it also comes with opportunities. That's right, those who grow up with a sibling with special needs also develop many positive qualities. Because children with special needs siblings often face so many unique challenges, finding a support system can be critical in their development. Understanding and addressing this need is why this group exists.
GiGi's Sibling Ambassadors program provides opportunities for siblings of individuals with Down syndrome to come together for peer interaction, support and education in a safe and relaxed environment. This program is directed toward the well-being of our family members who most likely have the longest-lasting relationship with the individual with Down syndrome who will learn from one another through activities, create acceptance and awareness in their community and support and advocate for their loved one.
