NC State Design Lab

NC State Design Lab

The Design Lab offers Weekend Workshops for high school students at our Design Lab studio here at the College of Design. Our workshops are brief, immersive design education experiences, offering a wide range of opportunities for teens interested in design. From skill-building to design thinking to concept-based projects to interdisciplinary design mash-ups and more, our talented instructors guide students in developing knowledge and experience in their focus area

Workshops will introduce students to design thinking and the design process through challenge-based activities. Through these workshops, students will have the opportunity to develop a better understanding of our designed world and find answers to these questions: What is design? How do designers think?

Design Connections:
Hosted by the Design Lab for K-12 Education and Outreach, the Design Connections program introduces rising 10th-12th grade students from backgrounds underrepresented in the design profession to learn about the fundamentals of design in an immersive, equitable and no-cost studio environment. They explore what it means to create an interdisciplinary design project while connecting with other students after the program through additional engagement opportunities, from weekend workshops to mentorship opportunities
