Many children of diverse backgrounds with aspirations to pursue STEM fields rarely meet professionals working in these fields that look like them. This Opportunity Fair brings an assortment of nearly 20 private and nonprofit organizations together to provide information and opportunities for students in grades 5–12 as they prepare to return to school. The day kicks off with a talk by former teacher turned filmmaker Andre Robert Lee entitled “Finding Your Place When You Feel You Don’t Fit” that details his journey to discovering his identity and purpose. He will then host a panel discussion of STEM professionals from all over the Triangle who will share stories of their journey to STEM careers.
