Dr. Doug Davis

Today’s world has added a great deal of complexity to the traditional challenges of parenting.

First, there is the foundation of teaching important values and responsibilities that will help your child in the future. You want your child to learn to cope flexibly with stress, to grow academically, and to become socially adept.

However, parents and children today have new challenges - rapidly changing environments, technology, social media, widely variable educational settings, and fierce academic competition - the goal is still the same: for children to learn to engage with the world, and for them to grow into independent and responsible young adults.

What I offer in therapy is to be your guide. In working with your child or teen, or cooperatively with you as a parent, we can tailor a suit from all of the available cloth of advice to find what best fits your specific child. Even great advice is useless to you if it does not match up with the pragmatic day-to-day needs of your child and family. Also, there is a dynamic nature to helping children, and it helps to have someone experienced in seeing things shift and adapting to that wisely and promptly. I create a personalized approach guided by research backed methods and years of psychological training and practice, which I combine with the insights and experience that your family brings to therapy.
