Dorothea Dix Park Fun

Dorothea Dix Park Fun

Dorothea Dix Park is the site of one of the most exciting new park projects in America. The 308-acre site blends historic architecture and rich landscapes into a unique destination in the heart of Raleigh, North Carolina. The playground area has swings and several hammocks nearby.

As the first indoor space in Dix Park, the Greg Poole, Jr. All Faiths Chapel serves as a welcome and event center.
Built in 1955, the chapel’s mid-century modern architecture is well preserved with decorative wood elements, a rose stained-glass window, terrazzo floors, and mid-century stainless fixtures. Renovated in 2020 by the Dix park Conservancy, the chapel now provides all the amenities of a modern community gathering space while retaining its historic charm.

Pop-up Disc Golf returns to Dix Park! Open for play May 12 - July 9, 2023 Come play a round at Dix Park's 9-Hole Temporary Disc Golf Course this summer! The course is designed for players of all experience levels with a nice blend of long open and lightly wooded holes through Harvey Hill and The Grove.

During the summer, Dix Park is the home for the sunflower field where you can walk through the beautiful field at the same time see the Raleigh skyline.

At the Dix Park Dog Park, dogs can run and play off-leash. Dogs must be on-leash in all other areas of Dix Park.

Public Parking is available in all lots after 5 pm on weekdays and all day during weekends.

Port-A-Johns are the only restroom facility in the park.
