 to trample the flowers.\n\nWell behaved, leashed pets are welcome. Keep pet
 s on pathways and picked up after them.\n\nWhat's not allowed:  \nPicking o
 r cutting the flowers\nEating the sunflower seeds - the sunflowers are plan
 ted on a former landfill\n\nFun Facts about the Field\nThe creation of the 
 5-acre sunflower field at Dix Park is a City of Raleigh partnership between
  Raleigh Water and Raleigh Parks.\nRaleigh Water preps the field in spring 
 and plants the sunflower seeds in May.\nIn 2025, Barnburner Black Oil Sunfl
 ower Hybrid seeds were planted.\nRaleigh Parks waters and maintains the fie
 ld as the flowers grow.\nRaleigh Parks also plants wildflowers along the pe
 rimeter of the field.\nThe sunflower field serves as a massive pollinator h
 abitat for bees, butterflies and other wildlife.\nDuring peak bloom, more t
 han tens of thousands of people from across the City and around the region 
 visit the sunflowers at Dix Park.\nAfter the bloom is over, the sunflowers 
 are left for birds and other wildlife to eat the seeds throughout the fall.
 \nIn the fall, Raleigh Water clears the field and plants a winter cover cro
