Athletic Programs

Each year over 1,000 youth participate in The Salvation Army of Wake County Athletics Programs, learning the importance of team play and good sportsmanship. Always maintaining a Christ-centered atmosphere, there are pre-game devotions and prayers for each sport. Here, children are taught that winning means having fun, learning fundamental skills, and being a part of a team where they make a difference. Directions

Adult Basketball

Often referred to as the "Nooners", adults will gather at The Salvation Army's Community Center to play pick-up games. There is no official league - just fun fellowship & basketball. Please know that we will have to close the gym from time to time due to special events going on in the gym. We will try to give you advanced notice when those events occur.

Overview

Registration is required
January 5 - December 13, 2024
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 11:30 - 1:30 pm
Guests are welcome for a one-time fee of $10.00
Must be 18+ years of age
A Christ-centered atmosphere is maintained in our gym, so please act accordingly

Fees

Option 1. Pay $10 each time you come
Option 2. Pay $50 for a 12-visit pass (to be used only in 2024)
Option 3. Pay $200 for a yearlong pass (good for all of 2024)

Youth Summer Basketball

Thank you for your interest in Youth Summer Basketball at The Salvation Army!

All coaches, assistants and players must register. The cost is $100 per player.

Overview

Coach and player registration is required
Coach registration is April 22, 2024
Player registration is May 6, 2024
Ages - 5 -14 (boys & girls)
Practices start Tuesday, June 4, 2024, through June 21, 2024
- Tuesdays (ages 5-6)
- Wednesdays (ages 7-8)
- Thursdays (ages 9-11)
- Fridays (ages 12-14)
Games start date: Tuesday, June 25, 2024, through July 19, 2024.
Closed July 4, 2024

Baseball and T-Ball - 2024 Registration Is Open

Overview

Coach and player registration is required
March 19 - May 30, 2024
Ages 4 - 12 years old (Based on age as of April 1, 2024)
All leagues are for boys and girls
Registration fee is $100 for all participants
- All payments should be made by credit card at the time of registration

T-Ball League (4 years of age) :

All practices will be held on Tuesday afternoons
Practices will start on March 19, 2024
All Games will be on Tuesdays starting April 16, 2024
- If there aren't enough 4-year-olds for their own league they will play with the 5-6 year-olds.
All players will bat from a tee
No practice after games start

T-Ball League (5-6 years of age)

All practices will be held on Tuesday afternoons
Practices will start the week of March 19, 2024
All Games will be on Tuesdays starting April 16, 2024

Coaches Pitch (7-8 years of age)

All practices will be held on Wednesday afternoons
Practices will start the week of March 20, 2024

All practices will be held on Thursday afternoons

Coaches, assistants, and players must register. The cost is $100 per player.

Mouth guards and shin guards are required
Practices are held on weekdays (determined by coach availability)

- August 27 through October 10, 2024

$10 of the registration fee will go to the Hurley Raynor Community Fund which helps provide scholarships to deserving youth and helps us maintain our facility. This fund honors Coach Hurley Raynor who has coached two generations of community center families.

Flag Football

Overview

Registration is required for all coaches, assistants, and players
Player registration fee is $100
This is a seven-week program that runs from October 15 through December 5, 2024
Coach registration is August 5, 2024
Player registration is September 9, 2024
Ages: 7-12 (based on child’s age as of October 1, 2021)
- 7-8-year-old league
- 9–10-year-old league
- 11–12-year-old league
- If we do not have enough participants in each league, we will combine the 7–9-year-olds and 10-12 year-olds
Practice dates are from October 15 through October 31, 2024
Game dates are from November 5 through December 5, 2024
Mouthpiece is required
