Historic LL Polk House

Historic LL Polk House

The restored home of LL Polk who help found NC State, Progressive Farmer Magazine and founder of the NC Dept. of Agriculture and first Com. of Agriculture.

The modest Victorian house was build bout 1892 and is a fine example of gingerbread gothic architecture mostly found in rural America. The interior has been meticulously restored including the rare “faux finish” interior woodwork. Polk descendants have graciously returned some of the original furnishing to the home. The home is on the Raleigh Heritage Trail and opens by appointment.
