Balanced Beginnings

My name is Lauren Huffman, a speech language pathologist for almost 16 years. I live in Rolesville, NC with my husband, two boys, and two dogs! I recently decided to start a new chapter in life with Balanced Beginnings Pediatric Therapy. I have a passion for serving the pediatric and medically fragile population when it comes to speech, language, feeding, and AAC services. I received my bachelor’s degree as well as my master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders for the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida. I have experience working with infants through early adulthood. My focus remains on early intervention and the medically fragile population. My clinical experiences include, providing services in the home, clinic, preschool and medical settings, incorporating sensory integration techniques into therapy settings, utilization of augmentative communication devices or boards to assist with transitioning as well as communication for nonverbal clients, speech and language development , implementing oral motor techniques to treat feeding and swallowing disorders in the pediatric population, providing services to medically fragile pediatric population, and collaborating with family, caregivers and medical staff when implementing therapy techniques and developing treatment goals. I have evaluated and treated patients of various delays associated with the following: dysphagia/feeding disorders, speech/language delay, visual/ hearing impairments, cerebral palsy, autism spectrum disorder, sensory integration issues, various genetic disorders, traumatic brain injury, apraxia, down syndrome, gastrostomy, tracheotomy, and mild-severe developmental disabilities. I thoroughly enjoy working with the pediatric population and collaborating with caregivers and other professionals to ensure a successful outcome in therapy and growth.
