What We Teach

Piano Lessons
Clarinet

Clarinet is a woodwind instrument that produces sound with a single reed vibrating against a mouthpiece. Clarinet is one of the easier wind instruments for students because of its small size and the easy ability to produce a sound. Lessons would include proper care of the instrument, readying music, theory and fun tunes to play.

Drums

Drums tap into that basic need to bang on things. With drum lessons, students can see how that pulse fits into the beats and rhythms from their favorite songs. It’s one of the most fun ways to build and exercise hand-eye coordination and it’s an effective method for all ages to refine both gross and fine motor skills.

Flute

Flute is a woodwind instrument that produces sound by blowing across the mouthpiece. This mouth position can be more challenging for younger students, so it’s best for students ages 7 and older. Lessons start with producing a sound, learning how to read music, and playing songs.

Guitar

The guitar is one of the oldest instruments in the world—and one of the most popular—because of its versatility and portability. Our instructors have mastered multiple styles on both acoustic and electric guitars, from rock and metal to jazz, blues and folk.

Piano

The piano is a great instrument for music students of all skill levels because of its easy-to-press keys and left-to-right layout. The fundamentals of pitch and rhythm are easy to recognize and articulate on this extremely well-known instrument.

Saxophone

Similar to the clarinet, saxophone is a woodwind instrument that produces sound with a single reed vibrating against a mouthpiece. Saxophone is very versatile, having a large part in concert band and jazz combos; it’s also making a resurgence in today’s pop music!

Trombone

Trombone, a brass instrument, is played by moving a slide up and down to produce different notes. Students love the low, loud sound that they can make. Lessons begin with playing on the mouthpiece and learning the different slide positions, and before you know it they will be playing their favorite tunes!

Trumpet

The smallest of the brass instruments, trumpet is a popular choice for beginning band students. Lessons begin with producing a sound on the mouthpiece and eventually progress to playing popular songs you hear on the radio. Trumpet players can easily transition to other brass instruments such as tuba, french horn, or trombone due to the similar mouth positions. Great for waking up campers at the break of dawn.

Ukulele

The ukulele started in Hawaii, but it isn’t just for Hawaiian music anymore! This little cousin of the guitar has become hugely popular with musicians all over the world. It only has four strings (instead of six like a guitar), as well as a smaller body and neck making it much more user-friendly for little hands and fingers. Our curriculum teaches students the scales and chords they need to know to play melodies and songs of their choice!

Violin

The violin may not be the easiest instrument to learn (it’s got two different pieces! it comes in different sizes!), but it has been around for centuries and has a magic of its own. Our instructors specialize in making this extraordinary instrument accessible and fun for kids of all ages, utilizing their own techniques, the Suzuki method, as well as other auditory learning methods.

Voice

Singing isn’t always as easy as it looks. Our highly trained instructors are experienced in teaching techniques in breathing and vocalization that will help you sing more strongly, hold notes longer, hit higher notes, and even make that quivering sound that they call vibrato. Fancy, huh? Your karaoke group won’t know what hit ’em.

Musical Petting Zoo

One lesson, multiple instruments

Not sure which instrument is right for your child? Try a Musical Petting Zoo where kids get a mini-lesson on multiple instruments to see which one they like the best. They’ll get to try instruments such as piano, ukulele, drums, violin and pBuzz (a great starter for brass instruments).

Musical Petting Zoos are fantastic options for children who have taken Jr. Notemakers or Notemakers and are exploring whether they want to pursue private lessons.

Drop-in Private Lesson

One lesson, one instrument, available instructor

If you are looking for an option for your student to book a music lesson here and there – not on a consistent basis, but when it’s convenient for your schedule – then this is the option for you.

Booking a drop-in lesson does not offer the guarantee that your lesson will be with the instructor with whom you initially booked, as students with recurring private lesson plans take precedence. Drop-in lessons must be booked on a lesson-to-lesson basis; more than one lesson cannot be booked at a time.
